[Case Study] Introduction of Model 320 2-Poster Testing Equipment
It contributes to maintaining the top position of one of the world's largest scooter manufacturers.
The Piaggio Group, represented by the Vespa brand, is a world-class manufacturer of motorized bicycles (mopeds), scooters, and motorcycles based in Pontedera, Italy, with an annual production of over 600,000 vehicles. Piaggio's seven brands are supported by 6,700 employees in 50 countries and five research and development centers. In November 2008, Piaggio introduced the MTS Model 320 two-poster testing system in its mechanical lab in Pontedera in close collaboration with MTS. This two-axis tire contact surface input simulator uses MTS RPC software to accurately and repeatedly reproduce loads caused by road surface inputs across the entire prototype vehicle, simulating loads and moments equivalent to test courses that include rough road testing. This allows the testing personnel to simulate conditions that a typical rider encounters during everyday driving, enabling them to obtain clear data on how the vehicle will ultimately perform after years of use.
